Don't forget to sign up for Cherokee Language classes. The classes will start the week of January 12th, and there is no better way to ring in a new year than learning to speak Cherokee. And a reminder that the Cherokee National Youth Choir is holding auditions on Tuesday, January 13th . The 'Beadwork Storytellers, A Visual Language' exhibit is still going on at the Cherokee Heritage Center. The Cherokee Nation is working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in a national campaign to educate Americans about the dangers of radon exposure and the tribe is offering an incentive: free radon testing for any family who resides within the Cherokee Nation during the month of January.

In 1808. Some of the Lower Cherokee towns were indicating a desire to move. Due to previous land cessions, game was becoming scarce for the citizens of these towns. These were what is known as the 'Old Settlers' who started removing to the areas of present day Arkansas and Oklahoma as early as 30 years prior to the Indian Removals.
